flooding in my home town

The flooding in Iowa is incredible. Here are pictures from Iowa City. Out of 99 counties, 83 of them have been declared disaster areas. I know that natural disasters happen all of the time all over the world, it's just a surreal feeling when it happens in such a familiar place. The amount of natural disasters world wide has gone up 200% in the past 2 decades. Surely that is a sign of the times.

Wow. I didn't know you were from Iowa. Marty and I both grew up in Marshalltown; competed with Iowa City teams and I once went to Iowa City during high school.

Later, when we worked at Cono (n. of Cedar Rapids), we would frequent the Whig & Pen and the Java House in downtown I.C.

I forgot to ask:
did you grow up in Iowa?
did your husband grow up in Iowa?
